Property in Turkey is enjoying the benefits of the country’s current souring tourism figures, according to property experts House Sales Turkey (
http://www.housesalesturkey.com/). Last week, the Anatolia news agency in Turkey published findings from the Turkish Hotelier’s Federation (TÜROFED), which revealed that 2.1 million tourists visited Turkey in the first quarter of 2011 alone, an increase of 17.6% on last year’s figures.
The 2.1 million tourists that have already visited Turkey this year, compared to 1.8 million this time last year, came primarily from Britain, Germany and Russia, according to the findings. The enduring appeal of the country to the European and Russian market is further evidenced in the buyer market for
real estate in Turkey. The market is bolstered by British, Irish, German, Scandinavian and Russian holidaymakers who choose to purchase
villas in Turkey for use as holiday homes, as well as those looking for investment property, encouraged by the country’s soaring tourism and economic growth.
The numbers of Russian tourists travelling to Turkey is set to increase by a further 20% thanks to a new visa-free travel programme. Cumhur Güven Taşbaşı, promotion director with the Culture and Tourism Ministry of Turkey, states: "Turkey is expecting to receive more Russian tourists this year, an increase potentially as high as 20 percent with the onset of a new visa-free travel regime between the two countries". Over 3 million Russians visited Turkey last year and the figure is expected to reach 4 million in 2011.
There is also expected to be a rise in medical tourism in Turkey thanks to the country’s reliable healthcare facilities and procedures that are far less expensive than those found in Europe. The Turkish government is actively promoting this niche tourism, which is thought to grow exponentially in the coming years.
There’s never been a better time to invest in
property in Turkey given this boom in tourism from a wide number of sources, a boom which looks set to continue.
