Turkey Wins Prestigious Conde Nast Traveller Holiday Destination of the Year 2010

For the first time ever, Turkey has won the prestigious award of Holiday Destination of the Year 2010 from Conde Nast Traveller magazine, reports House Sales Turkey (http://www.housesalesturkey.com/). Conde Nast Traveller magazine is the leading travel magazine from the world's top publishers Conde Nast and its awards are seen as the highest accolade in the travel business. This year at the 12^th Annual Readers Travel Awards, Turkey won favourite country in the destination category, fighting off stiff competition. This award is fantastic news for the country as it will boost both tourism and property in Turkey.

Conde Nast readers were asked to score countries with a 'percentage of satisfaction' on a number of different criteria when deciding what made a top holiday destination. Turkey received top marks for range of accommodation (86.48) and value for money (87.20). Director of the Turkish Culture and Tourism Office UK Irfan Onal expressed the country's delight at winning: "We are thrilled that Turkey has won this prestigious award, which is even more meaningful given that it is chosen by the readers themselves. This is the highlight in what has been a very successful year at the Turkish Culture and Tourism Office UK. Indeed, visitor numbers from the UK continue their spectacular rise, with year-on-year figures up 15.5% for the first 7 months of this year." 

It is this ever-increasing tourism that is behind the significant rise in the number of enquiries for Turkey property. The country has many of the same attractions as longer-established second home/holiday home destinations such as Spain and France: easy access with cheap flights; low cost of living; beautiful beaches, countryside and climate; and rich cultural heritage. However, prices of Turkish property are still well below those of its European counterparts, a fact which is keeping it at the top of the list of holiday home destinations as well as holiday destinations.
